Blockchain technology is one of the most transformative innovations of our time. It is quickly disrupting a range of industries from finance to health care. However its greatest impacts will not be seen on the trading floor or in the operating room. They will be seen in the some of the most disadvantaged communities in the world. Anne Connelly, CEO of the ixo Foundation and Faculty at Singularity University, will discuss the impact of blockchain technology on developing countries, international NGOs, and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.


Anne Connelly is passionate about harnessing blockchain and decentralized technology to transform the lives of people in developing countries. Anne is Faculty at Singularity University in Silicon Valley & SingularityU Canada, teaching global leaders how exponential technologies can solve problems that impact over a billion people. She has been an active part of the global blockchain community since 2012, and is currently working with notable companies including Uulala, Bunz, DLTvc and Doyenne Capital. She previously worked with Doctors Without Borders Canada in Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and currently serves on their board of directors.

Anne is the founder of Trust Graphic Novels and is writing a graphic novel to share the impact of blockchain on communities with the goal of reaching over 1 million African youth. She has a Bachelor of Life Sciences from Queen’s University, an MBA from McMaster University, and a Fintech Certificate from MIT. She was honoured as one of CBC’s 12 Young Leaders Changing Canada and one of the Fifty Most Inspirational Women in Technology in Canada.
